Are you a Bible church?
As a group of Christians, we are committed to reading, studying, and applying biblical principles. We believe that the bible is inspired by God and is useful for guiding and directing our lives—God’s way of preparing us for serving him and our neighbors. Through Scripture, we realize that there is a better way to live. Jesus told a group of people, “Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength.” This is the greatest command… He continued, “The second is this: love your neighbor as yourself.”
Are you a part of a denomination?
The Pittsfield Church of Christ is an independent church. Although we share many similarities with other Churches of Christ, we are autonomous, having no national or international church governance. Elders serve the local congregation and help to achieve the goals we have identified for this church.
What is your worship service like?
During Sunday morning Worship you will be invited to sing, take communion, and listen to a period of teaching, Scripture reading and prayer. Different members of our congregation participate each week under the oversight of our Elders. Although we are primarily an ‘a cappella’ congregation, we include instrumental music in our worship occasionally.
Is there a class for children during Worship?
We provide a Children's Bible Time during the Worship Service.
What should I wear?
Come as you are. We are intentionally relaxed. Casual dress is appropriate.
When do you take communion?
We take communion every Sunday. We have ‘open-communion,’ which means we invite all who proclaim Jesus as the Christ to participate.
Do you take a collection?
It is our understanding that the responsibility of financial support of the church is that of the membership. Visitors should not feel obligated to contribute.
