Pittsfield Church of Christ
Sharing the Hope

Thank you for taking the time to view our church website. Churches of Christ are independent of one another and we appreciate the time you might spend getting to know who we are. We hope that you will find the information here useful. If you are looking for a church with whom to meet, we would like to be that church.

Church History

Churches of Christ have roots in the American Restoration Movement of the nineteenth century. The original dream of ‘Restoration’ was to unite Christians by restoring to the church certain practices and commitments it had lost. Our emphases on believer’s immersion, weekly communion, congregational singing, and local church leadership are healthy witnesses to this principle. Restoration can work as long as we see it as a journey rather than a destination. We seek to be a church that is always restoring. We hold on to the best of our heritage, but we move forward to what God calls us to be in a new generation

Church Organization

The Pittsfield Church of Christ is an independent church. Although we share many similarities with other Churches of Christ, we are autonomous, having no national or international church governance. Elders serve the local congregation and help to achieve the goals we have identified for this church.

Are you a Bible church?

As a group of Christians, we are committed to reading, studying, and applying biblical principles. We believe that the bible is inspired by God and is useful for guiding and directing our lives—God’s way of preparing us for serving him and our neighbors. Through Scripture, we realize that there is a better way to live. Jesus told a group of people, “Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength.” This is the greatest command… He continued, “The second is this: love your neighbor as yourself.”
